Gaia Farm

since 1863

Olio Gaia has been a Puglian farm since 1863 that has been preserving the art of extra virgin olive oil for over a century.

We cultivate approximately 70 hectares of olive groves, where majestic centuries-old trees coexist with young plants, symbolizing the link between tradition and the future.
Our main varieties, Leccino, Ogliarola, Cellina and Favolosa, are alongside small plots of Coratina, Cima di Melfi and Pecholine, some of which are already organic and the rest are in conversion.

From this land comes an authentic oil, the fruit of sustainable production that combines quality, respect for the environment, and family passion. Current annual production stands at around 650 quintals of oil.

Our selections include three excellences:
• a delicate, harmonious and balanced multivarietal;
• a 100% Leccino monovarietal, intense and fruity;
• an organic multivarietal, with a strong character.

Each bottle contains our history, our care for the land, and the soul of those who cultivate it.

Our History

Olio Gaia's roots lie in the heart of authentic Puglia , among centuries-old olive trees and Primitivo vineyards, where as early as the 17th century, an ancient underground oil mill, "Li Surii" (the smiles), produced an oil so pure it reached the banquets of Europe's most noble courts.

From the port of Taranto, the lampante oil obtained from the second pressing also departed in wooden barrels bound for Paris, where it illuminated the nights with the “light of Puglia”.

In 1863, the mill was expanded and renovated, marking the beginning of a new era. Francesco Buccolieri oversaw the restoration work, offering his labor in exchange for the secrets and art of oil production.

Since then, five generations of the Buccolieri family have passed down the same lifeblood: innovating within tradition, preserving quality and a deep connection to their land. The art of making olive oil was thus passed from Francesco Buccolieri to his grandson Francesco Pericle , who loved to say, "When you add good oil and salt, any herb is worth anything."

And again, from Francesco Pericle to his nephew Francesco Gennari , the current owner of Olio Gaia and the fifth generation of the farm. With him, the dream of his predecessors came to life: to bottle the oil that until then had only been sold in bulk, but always with an eye to the future. The Olio Gaia brand is in fact dedicated to Gaia, the daughter of the current owner .

Today, the Olio Gaia brand since 1863 is a tribute to that history and the hope for the future that has accompanied it for over a century.
Every drop of our oil tells the story of a family's dedication and love for Puglia.
